Perhaps episode two will come up with a believable reason for her to stay. I assume it will be something along the lines of: She finds purpose in teaching these kids, and Fanny says she owes it to Hubble's memory to stay. Her staying now feels unrealistic, but if she stays there after he dies that would be even weirder. Not sure how I feel about it yet. We'll see I guess.
